February 2010 - Parsec recently installed the latest state-of-the-art technology in its manufacturing facility in the form of an additional SMT assembly line to meet increasing PCB assembly requirements.
The assembly line is capable of handling multiple low-volume, high-technology boards and also ensures that larger volume production runs efficiently. The criteria for machine selection included handling of small components from 01005, fine-pitch ICs to 0,3 mm ball/lead spacing with visioning, flying vision on all except the larger parts, quick setup and changeover between jobs, high placement accuracy and increased placement speed.
Parsec procured the line from PEM Technologies as a one-stop solution. It includes a Speedprint SP210avi automatic solder screen printer, two Samsung SM421 pick-and-place machines and a 7+2 zone SEHO GoReflow 2.3 reflow oven – all firsts in SA, according to Parsec. The line setup enables the use of two placing machines for parallel jobs or alternatively for tandem operation on higher volume/complexity projects.
